In principle it is. In practice, however, there are a huge number of things which must happen before the keys are handed over.
It may sound obvious, but it is important to check whether the seller actually owns the property.
You will probably need to organise finance to buy it and there are a number of important legal checks that relate to the land the property sits on, utilities providers and the surrounding area.
After all, if there are plans afoot to build a new motorway at the end of your garden, we’re guessing you will want to know about it before you commit to buy!
Residential conveyancing can sometimes seem like an unending process and because much of the information needs to come from the seller’s solicitor, someone further along the chain or a local authority, the process will only move forward as quickly as the slowest part.
We believe it is important to keep our clients informed at every stage of the conveyancing process.
We promise to:
- Keep you informed about what is happening on a regular basis
- Ensure everything is well organised so that we drive the process forward by chasing up other parties
- Offer good advice
- Provide a sympathetic ear at all times
